How unsubscribes, bounces and replies work
Who campaigns skip, and how GigTools knows someone unsubscribed, bounced or replied.
Up to date as of GigTools version 2.1.03
Campaigns look after the people on your lists for you: anyone who unsubscribes, bounces or replies is handled automatically.
Unsubscribes
Every campaign email ends with "Don't want these emails…? Unsubscribe" and a link. The link opens a page with an Unsubscribe button, so mail scanners that open links can't unsubscribe someone by accident. Email apps' own unsubscribe button works too.
When someone unsubscribes:
It only stops campaign emails. You can still email them yourself. You can also tick Don't include in email campaigns on any contact to keep them off campaigns.
Bounces and spam complaints
If an email sent from GigTools bounces, it's marked Bounced and the address is skipped by every campaign from then on. Their contact page and lists show it bounced. If someone marks a campaign email as spam, they're added to the unsubscribe list.
Unsubscribes and bounces can't be undone from GigTools yet. If an address was fixed or someone asks to hear from you again, contact support.
Replies
GigTools can't read your inbox, so it counts as a reply when:
A reply stops their follow-ups and counts in Replied on the campaign's results.
Why someone is skipped
On the campaign page, open will get it under Who gets it to see who's skipped and why:
Acts are never included. Change the skip rules under Skip on the campaign. See How to set up a campaign.
