How to make a contact list

Build a hand-picked list of contacts to send a campaign to.

Up to date as of GigTools version 2.1.03

A contact list is a hand-picked group of people, like "Comedy club bookers", that a campaign can send to. Lists are part of Campaigns, on the Pro and Agency plans. Owners and admins make and change them.

For a list that keeps itself up to date, like every church in Arizona, use a smart list on the campaign instead. See How to set up a campaign.

1. Create a list

  1. Open Business › Campaigns in the menu and click the Contact lists tab.
  2. Under New list, type a Name and click Create list.

2. Add people

On the list's page, in Add people:

  • One at a time: search in One contact and click Add.
  • Lots at once: open Everyone at a type of business or in a state. Tick business types (a group's box takes the whole group), and/or type States such as AZ, WA. Click Add everyone who matches.

Matching uses each person's main company. Acts aren't added, and anyone already on the list stays on it once.

3. Keep it tidy

  • Each person shows their company and email, plus unsubscribed, bounced or no email when that applies. Campaigns skip those people.
  • Click Remove to take someone off.
  • Change the name or add a Description, then click Save.
  • The top of the page shows which campaigns use the list.
  • Delete list deletes the list, not the contacts.

4. From a contact's page

Once you have a list, contact pages show a Contact lists card with the lists that person is on. Click Change lists, tick or untick lists, and click Save lists.
