W-9s and 1099s for the acts you pay
Keep acts' tax details on file and get reminded to send 1099s.
Keep a W-9 on file
- Open the act in Contacts & acts and find Payments & taxes.
- Click Upload W-9 and choose the PDF or a photo of it.
- Fill in the legal name, business name, tax classification and address from the form, plus the type of taxpayer ID and its last 4 digits. Click Save tax details.
Only owners and admins can see W-9s and tax details. GigTools never asks for the full SSN or EIN; it stays on the W-9 file, which is stored privately.
Tick Doesn't need a 1099 for acts that are corporations.
1099 reminders
Each January, if you paid any acts the year before, GigTools adds a task: "Send 1099-NEC forms for [year] act payments", due January 31. It says how many acts reached the reporting threshold and how many are missing a W-9.
Open Act payouts, pick the year, and download the CSV for your accountant or 1099 filing service.
The IRS threshold for 1099-NEC is $600 for payments through 2025 and $2,000 for payments made in 2026 or later. Tax rules change and have exceptions, so check with your accountant.
